Michael Fortner
Co-Founder
On May 23, 1993, Michael died at the young age of 35.
Michael's connect with others has brought him the reputation of being a generous and understanding employer. He was a true friend of everyone who worked with Suwannee Medical Personnel.
He took personal interest in understanding the stories of each and every individual who worked with him. He also had nicknames for each of them.
In the early days of Suwannee Medical Personnel, Michael and his brother Chris, did a lot of work including staffing, marketing, etc. He was personable and honest.
Before the days of the cell phone, he used to stand in front of a pay phone booth holding a pink scheduling pad with telephone numbers scribbled on the seams.
He used to call people at all times of the day and night and no one seemed to care once they knew it was Michael.
Michael was long and lean like a movie star. He was gregarious yet introverted. His favorite collection included pristine vintage vinyl records, all of papa's and mama's albums, and other 70's rock groups. He was also the national vice-president of the Cass Elliot fan club.
He was a collector of historical Lyco-bans , which are photographic celluloid strips stored in the National Archives in Washington D.C. He had keen interest in WW II research and his interests mostly revolved around German history.
He was an avid photographer and loved capturing moments through his 35 millimeter long lens. He ensured everyone looked just the way they wanted to look in the pictures he captured. Along with photography, he was a collector of books too and had an extensive personal library. The best part about him was that he always carried a book along with him.
Along with his favorite book, he also carried a checkbook to help people around him when they needed him the most.
He loved surprising people with gifts and was a letter writer too. He used to send thank-you notes that showed how much he cared for people. His warmth and self-effacing humor was contagious and made him an affable person to people around him. His honesty and wit was simply incomparable.
He always made time for his employees and his family alike. He was a best friend, a devoted son, an interested uncle, and a full-time brother. He lived life to the fullest and will always be loved and remembered for the person he was.
